Today I am linking up with Darci for 5 on Friday as well as Shay, Mel and Shaeffer for Pin-spired.

My outfit this month.

pinspired look

I can't point to a direct pin that inspired this look, but Pinterest in general has changed my whole style (as in I have one now).

And straight from Shay, I doubled up on the bracelets and necklaces. I am normally and earring girl, so this was kind of a big deal for me.

I finally started utilizing twitter... I went from 18 followers to 106 in 4 days!!! Follow me @carissajhoward

My little man is getting too big too fast! I need time to slow down!!

This is him posing with me for my pin-spired photos!

We took down our Christmas tree and all our other decorations... Does anyone else's house feel empty?

I love the new year, it a great time to look back and remember the past year and all the blessings and trials. It's also a great time to look forward to the goals you have in front of you!

Pinspired November

Today I am linking up with MEl, Shay and Sheaffer to show you my pinspired looks. This one is more of a "pinterest told me to" inspired.

pinterest outfit

Pinterest told me to, so I listened. I mixed black and brown! This has always been a huge no-no in my book, but after seeing the proof that it work I went for it. Shay told me to, so I listened. I mixed patterns! NEVER EVER in my life would I have put leopard print with stripes before pinterest!

I have to say, I love the way this outfit turned out! If I can do it, you can too! Thanks ladies for the inspiration!

Corner Bookshelf Made from an Old Door

Have you ever wondered what do with an old door? I have seen many a headboard on pinterest made from an old door. When I found this door on the side of the road, I must admit a headboard was my first idea. However, since this was an old front door, it was HEAVY. So I went to the internet for inspiration. I honestly cannot tell you where I got this idea. I wish I could tell you, but I can't.

DIY old door

This is what the door looked like originally. I can't find a picture of it. This one came from here.

The first step was cutting the door in half (well a little off center so it would be even when overlapped).

Next it was time to make the shelves.

We used a string to make semi circles.

Yep, that's right I got down there and cut them out. :)

I sanded the door before painting it. I wanted to make sure the paint would stick.

I let this dry for a day and then came back and painted everything.

Since doing this project I have learned about the awesomeness of Annie Sloan paint. No sanding or priming. Just painting! I will be using that with my next project.

We (and by we I mean Joel) added little brackets for the shelves to sit on.

And here is the finished product!

A few decorations and it looks AWESOME! I love that the paint doesn't completely cover the door. It's more of a shabby look! And I love it!

Landry's Monthly Pictures

I had every intention of posting Landry's monthly pictures on the 9th of each month... But time got away from me and I never did. However, I did manage to take the pictures and document all of the new things he learned. Since we he just had a birthday I thought I would post them for you here.

Pin-Spired June 2013

Today I am linking up with Sheaffer, Shay and Mel for my monthly pin-spired outfit.

Here's the inspiration, it won't let me copy a picture for you... :(

Sorry, I didn't realize this picture was so blurry. I have my new favorite wedge on!! Side note: Sheaffer said to get a size bigger. I wear an 8.5 so I went and tried on the 9s. My feet are so narrow that they didn't fit me. So my advice is if you have narrow feet (I mean really narrow) get a size down.

Shorts- Old Navy
Shirt - Target
Accessories - Need some work... what would you wear with an outfit like this? It needs color for sure!

Today I am linking up with Shay,  Sheaffer, and Mel and Get Your Pretty On. To show you an outfit I wore this month that was inspired by Pinterest!

I wore a few (what I would call) cute outfits, but I only remembered to take a picture one day.

donna by fluffof5 featuring bke sole shoes

I found this on Pinterest back in Sept and bought a similar skirt so I could recreate this outfit. Here is my take on it!

Shirt - New York and Co
Necklace - Very Jane
Jacket - JCPenny (Years ago)
Skirt - Old Navy
Shoes - New York and Co

This skirt is seriously the most comfortable ever!

Before I start I just want to say that this is my 400th post! When I started this blog almost 4 years ago, I had no idea where it would lead, but it has been a fun adventure. Hopefully, there will be many more!

I had a major Pinterest fail on Tuesday night. I told you on Monday in my Meal Planning, that I was going to try a new recipe and I will let you know how it goes...

Well, it was terrible. But I have to say most all of it was due to the chef... Here's the story:

Joel's mom makes WW Banana Chocolate Chip. I hate HATE bananas (it's a texture and a taste thing), but I really like the pancakes. So I went on a mission to find them. I found 3 recipes here, here and here.

I went with the last one. It was the easiest, had the fewest ingredients, and I had all the ingredients on hand. The other two called for a special ingredient I would have to go out and find.

chocolate chip pancakes

This was my first attempt. I didn't let it set long enough so when I went to flip it, it scrunched up.

The second one looks fine, right? Wrong! The other side is burnt to a crisp. And the inside was still runny...

Try number 3... yeah you can see the mess I made... I accidentally used the rest of the batter. I thought I would be better off, but it turns out that it didn't help. This one was even thicker than the previous one, but I turned the heat down hoping it wouldn't burn.

It still burned. I think part of the problem was that the banana pancakes didn't spread as easily as normal  pancakes.

My horrible pancake experience. Do you have advice on making pancakes? How do you know when they are ready to flip? How do you flip them without splattering the batter? What size pan do you use?

Any advice would be appreciated... we ended up eating ramen...

Wedding Showers

I co-hosted a shower for a coworker who is getting married next week.

Meet Michael and Haley. Michael was hired 2 weeks before I left on maternity leave, but he went to ACU so I know he must be good!

And my favorite part was finally using an idea I saw on Pinterest.

The 'Hers' cake is the one I saw pinterest, but since this shower was for my male co-worker we had to have a 'his' version. It turned out great! And was a huge hit!
