Mowing the Lawn

The other day Joel was outside mowing and Landry was inside fussing. Landry LOVES to be outside. He cries whenever we have to come back inside.

Anyway, I decided it would be fun to go outside and let Landry 'help' daddy. (Please note: Joel was finished at this point, so there was no running equipment.)

He was so proud of himself.

He is already showing that he wants to be just like daddy!

Spider Bite Turned Staph Infection

**Due to the graphic nature of some of the photo, I am going to put all of the photos at the end of this post.**

Sunday- Bite happens. We didn't see it happen so we don't know for sure what kind it was. Our guess is a wolf spider (typically not poisonous.)

Monday- Hand itches... ALOT

Tuesday- Small zit looking bump appears

Wednesday- Zit is getting bigger hand starts swelling

Thursday AM- Hand very swollen, redness spreading. I call the doctor and get an appointment

Thursday PM- Drive Joel to doctor because hand is too swollen. The doctor numbed and drained Joel's hand. She also gave us some antibiotics to take.

Friday- No improvement

Saturday AM- Getting worse, so we go back into the doctor. She attempts to drain the hand again, gives him a shot of antibiotics and some additional antibiotics to take.

Saturday PM- Hand only getting worse. Call doctor she tells us to go straight to the ER. We go to dinner, then head to ER. Once we get there we were immediately taken back. ER doctor took one look and said protocol is that we have to take an x-ray and blood, but we're admitting you and start IV antibiotics.

Saturday PM/Sunday early AM- X-ray inclusive. Because the swelling was so bad they ordered an MRI to make sure the infection isn't in the bone. IV being changed every 1 to 2 hours.

Sunday AM- Doctor tells Joel he's going to be there until the swelling goes down, so call work and let them know he won't be in. Infection not in the bone! Praise God! (Also, Mother's Day)

Sunday PM to Monday PM- Round the clock IV and pain meds. Still swollen the doctor ask a surgeon to come in to talk about draining the hand.

Tuesday AM- Surgery to drain hand

Tuesday PM- Lots of pain! Still on IV antibiotics

Wednesday AM- Finally seeing a noticeable improvement

Wednesday PM- Home from the hospital

Overall, this was quite the experience and very scary. It was determined that he had a staff infection, the bite was just what opened the skinned to let the staff infection in. We are so blessed to have great insurance and great doctors and nurses who took good care of Joel. God was there watching over everything, and we could feel the prayers being sent on our behalf. Thank you to EVERYONE who called, texted, Facebook, etc checking on Joel and I. And a special thanks to my family who stepped up and took care of Landry.

I believe this was Thursday, doesn't look that bad...

Saturday, the rest are while he's in the hospital (I don't remember the order)

Right before surgery

After surgery

Coming home

Throwback Thursday

So I am really late to this party, but better late than never! I have seen people posting their throwback pictures on Facebook and Instagram. So I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to show you some throwback pictures of Joel and me. Let's see who Landry looks like!

(On a side note: Joel looks just like his dad in this picture)

or Mommy?

And just so you can see the pictures side by side...

So what do you think?

Psalm 116:15

Psalm 116:15 - "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints."

Well, last night heaven got another one of those saints. Joel grandpa Dr. Don Howard passed away.

When he found out that we were having a boy I will never forget how excited he was that his heritage was being passed on. We will do our best to raise Landry to be a Godly man like his daddy, his pawpaw and the man who started the family his grandpa.

We are sad because we no longer be able to spend time with him here on earth, but we know he is walking with his Lord right now. Please pray for the family during this difficult time.

*This is one of those times when I wish I was a writer and could express myself more clearly and eloquently.

22 days of thanksgiving {Day 3}

I am so thankful for my husband! Seriously, I married superman. He is a great husband, dad, son, son-in-law, brother, friend, and good at every role he plays in his life.

Joel takes such good care of me (and Landry, of course). He constantly makes me feel like I am the most important thing in the world! He works so hard to provide for us. For those of you who don't know, Joel has gone back to school for his MBA. He knows I want to stay home with Landry and he is doing everything he can to make that happen.

Watching him interact with Landry melts my heart! I can already tell how much Landry loves his daddy.

This is one of my favorite pictures of the two of them. Pure love!

Joel is one of the hardest workers I have ever met, he so patient, he is kind and he has very generous heart. I am so thankful that God brought us together.

Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to my wonderful daddy James!

The man who tried baby food just for me!

We celebrated with my dad on Friday since my sister had to work on Sunday. However, we still had the family over on Sunday for lunch to break in Joel's Father's Day/Anniversary present. (Our anniversary is on the 23rd). I know he's technically not a dad yet, but the way he takes care of me and Landry I think it counts!

Complete with all the utensils and a cover.

This grill will do infrared, gas and charcoal. So we have lots of choices!

We have been wanting a grill since we moved into our house 9 months ago and I thought what better time to get one!

And since I gave him the grill a week early so he could put it together, I cam up with this little surprise for Sunday. (AND I didn't get the idea from pinterest!)

Both my dad and Joel loved their sausage and brats on the grill! So I think it turned out to be a successful day! Happy Father's Day babe! I know you will be the best daddy in the world!

Random Post

These are just some random things that have happened that I wanted to share.

We got this super cute monogrammed hooded towel for Landry. After we washed it we were trying to figure out how to fold it when Joel decided it was too big for Landry. And to prove his point he tried it on.

This other picture I am in awe of. Normally when people show me a 3D picture of their baby I just think it looks creepy. So, if you have shown me one I apologize. Now that I have gotten a picture of Landry in 3D I totally get it!! This photo was taken at 35 weeks and I think Landry looks like Joel. I guess we will have to wait a few more weeks to be sure, but you can give me your opinion.

He is rubbing his eye with his fist over to the right, and the spot on his head above the other eye is part of me that they could get in the picture.

Up, Up and Away

Nine months

 My precious little baby,
I have loved you from the start.
You are a tiny miracle
Laying closely to my heart.

Each day I feel your presence,
Each day you quickly grow,

Each day your heart beats softly,
As only I could know.
So, I'll keep this in a special place
And remember each year through,

Of this special time in my life
In the months I carried you.

Joel's work shower

This weekend is going to be a whirl wind of showers for us. Some how they all got planned 3 days in a row. We are so blessed with so many people who love us and baby Landry. Today my office closed at noon (we're moving, but that's a totally different post), so I went and had lunch with Joel. Then we came inside and his coworkers thru us a shower. It was so nice to see them all.

Bath toys floating in the punch, who would have thought... not me!

And my favorite blanket received so far...

Again, we are so thankful for all the wonderful people in our lives!

Poor Joel

On Tuesday we went to Plano Nature Preserve to take our maternity pictures. Some how Joel (and our photographer) managed to get chiggers. We stay on the path and out of the tall grass, but they got them anyway. Thankfully I don't have them, but I feel so bad for Joel. This is the worst case of chiggers I have ever seen. And they seem to be getting worse because he HAS to wear clothes to work, yet, his clothes just rub against them... I guess he will be staying home all weekend.
