Master Closet {Reveal}

Finally, the day you've all been waiting for... Okay, so maybe I am a bit dramatic, but I am finally posting the pictures of our master closet renovation! In case you missed it you can find the before here, part 2 here, and part 3 here.

Let's start with the wall color reveal. I know it's bold, but a closet should be cheerful!

Then we hung the shelves one section at a time.

Don't laugh at my facial expression... That things was heavy (especially for this weakling!) Also, I apologize for the blurriness, the picture was taken in a hurry (for obvious reasons).

And now...

We have a big full length mirror that we still need to hang, but everything else is finished!

You'll notice that we still have boxes stacked in the corner. Joel has reserved that spot for a gun safe. As soon as we have saved for it, we will buy one and put it in there.

Look at all the shoe storage I have now!!

I even have built jewelry storage! Now I just need to fill it with my jewelry.

We even have art work hanging on the wall!

Y'all Joel did such a great job making this a dream closet!

Master Closet Redo - {Part 3}

I have been so busy and tired from working on this closet I haven't been able to show you all our progress. Here are some pictures from our work

1. We continued to stain...

2. We moved everything out of the closet into our bedroom. Talk about a mess!

3. We started building the sections of the closet.

4. We took down all of the old shelves and rods. And I am just going to take a moment to brag on myself (it's my blog I'm allowed to). I took these down with limited help from Joel. Also, I figured out the best way to get the shelves off before Joel did! I know he would have eventually figured it out, but I was so proud of myself for figuring something out before my handy husband.

5. We painted, the paint color is going to stay a secret for now.

6. We started hanging stuff and putting it back in the closet.

And of course, we had a little help!

I can't wait to reveal it! That will be my next post! So stay tuned!

And all with the "help" of this little guy.

Master Closet Redo - {Before Pictures}

When Joel and I bought our house a few years ago, one of the things I LOVED about the house was the master closet. It's huge! Seriously, we could use it as a nursery if we needed to.

For a few years it has worked well for us, but the standard builder shelves and rods just aren't working anymore.

So we started researching closet organization. We originally decided to go with The Container Store Elfa Shelving. The cost was going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $3500 - $3700 ON SALE! But it's what we loved...

Then for Christmas Joel's parents gave us some money to put towards the closet. (Don't worry it's what we said we wanted).

Funny how a gift of money can change your mind. We have now decided to DIY the closet! And the goal is to redo our entire closet for under $1,000 for everything!!

Normally, I like to wait until the end of a project and post all of the pictures, but this time I decide to post as we go. So today we're starting with the before pictures!

I have shoes in 4 different places in our closet! Including a shelf on Joel's side.

The back wall has some hanging area, but we can't utilize it because of the way the rest of the closet is layer out.

Do you see what a mess this corner is???

Stay tuned! I hope to post a weekly update!

Favorite DIY Project of 2013

As I look into all the projects I want to get done in 2014 I thought this would be a good time to share my favorite project of 2013.

This year Joel and I have done lots of projects around the house. We made our bed and night stands (and by we I mean Joel... post coming soon), we made a corner shelf for the guest room, a cornice for the guest room,  we installed shelves in the game room and we painted our kitchen table.By far my favorite project was the shelf. Main reason being I did it mostly by myself.

Christmas Photo Booth Fun

This year we hosted my mom's family at our house for Christmas Eve. I used my silhouette machine to cut out some fun Christmas shapes and what do you know we had a photo booth. It turned out to be loads of fun!
