Mexico 2013 - Day 6

We woke up and finished packing, we took our bags down to the front desk, and headed to the buffet for breakfast.

We had a few extra minutes so we laid on the beach and soaked up our last few minutes on vacation.

As we were leaving we snapped a few pictures of the front.

On our drive, there were lots of check points. The police looked more like military to me.

Sad to leave and return to reality, but oh so happy to be getting back to my baby.

Landry was so HAPPY to see us. I have never seen him smile bigger!

Mexico 2013 - Day 5

We agreed that on our last day we would do nothing. We had already done that all week, so why not continue.

We hung out in the pool, at the swim up bar, and laying out. Here are some of those pictures.

It was so nice not doing ANYTHING at all. It is exactly what I needed.

Several hours later, we cleaned up and headed to dinner at the Japanese Steakhouse.

This was definitely our favorite meal of the week!

We've been to these kinds of places here before, but it was still fun! I thought it was very ironic that there were 2 Americans in Mexico eating Japanese Food.

We had fried ice cream for dessert.

After dinner, we ended up talking to the couple that was sitting with us for over an hour. Then it was back to the room to pack.

Mexico 2013 - Day 4

We began the morning with breakfast at the buffet. Then we headed to the archery range. I had never done it before and thought it would be fun to learn.

As you might have guessed, Joel was a pro... me not so much at all.

Next we decided to rent bikes and go for a ride. Honestly, it was way too hot on the roads, so I only lasted 30 minutes. I managed not to get any pictures because we didn't last long.

After that, we headed back to the room to change into our swimsuits. Nothings like a little more relaxing in the pool. On our way back we spotted an iguana eating flowers.

We spent the rest of the day hanging out in the pool. When we got back to our room we had a little octopus waiting for us.

We napped and then got ready for dinner. Check out my good lookin' man in his new hat!

We decided to go to the steak house again since it was so yummy.

Dessert was good, if you remember from our cruise how much I like ice cream and brownies.

After dinner, we enjoyed a sunset stroll along the beach.

Then we head to the roof top to enjoy the view and wait for the beach party to start. (Turns out the party didn't start till 9:30 not 8 like they said. We didn't stay up for it, we decided to head back to the room instead.)

Mexico 2013 - Day 3

We started our morning with snorkeling. I really enjoyed it! Seeing everything under the water swimming around with us was really cool.

Joel got me a video camera for Christmas. It is shock proof, waterproof, dust proof, and freeze proof. It was the only camera I brought on the trip. It was nice to take pictures underwater, but I would have prefer to have my DSLR for all the pictures. Lesson learned for future trips.

After, snorkeling we headed to the pool for a while. We spent a few hours there before going to the spa. As part of our stay we had access to the relaxation pool and sauna. It was so wonderful. (Ignore the horrible hair!)

After relaxing in the spa it was time for our afternoon nap before getting ready for dinner.

The only picture I got was of Joel's cheesecake. I had the filet and Joel the T-bone. I think mine was better than his (he ended up ordering mine on day 4.)

They had a little rock path that jutted out into the ocean a bit so we decided to explore that.

I had to take off my heels in order to explore.

After our walk, we went to the bar to wait for the night's show to begin.

The show was really cheesy so we left early and headed back to the room.

Mexico 2013 - Day 2

Day 2:

First thing in the morning we went downstairs to find out about an upgrade. If you want to see what we started with check out Day 1. It turns out they had a room open, but it needed to be cleaned. We packed up all of our stuff and brought it downstairs to wait for the room to be ready.

In the mean time, Joel and I head for the pool!

It was so nice to swim up to the bar and enjoy a drink. We also met 2 other couples, one from Rowlett (literally right down the street) and another from OK.

We enjoyed lunch each day at the buffet. And then we headed to our new room.

Much nicer if I do say so myself. (Ignore my wet swimsuit on the ground.) We had a nice little nap and then got ready for dinner.

There were several restaurants at the resort and we decided to check out the Italian food first!

While we waited we got to enjoy this gorgeous view.

The food was pretty good.

After dinner we enjoyed a stroll down the beach before turning in for the night.

Mexico 2013 - Day 1

Day 1:

We spent the morning doing our last minute packing and hanging out with our little man before we had to leave for the airport.

Landry even helped a little...

It was hard to say goodbye, but we did and head towards security. We stopped and got food too. Then went to our gate just in time for boarding. However, apparently there were 2 unattended bags. So we got to watch the bomb dog sniff the area and then 2 security guards go through the bags. I guess it turned out to be nothing because DFW is still there.

Off we go

Once we landed we landed we spent an hour going through customs. Then we headed to our shuttle to drive to our hotel. It was an hour and half drive to our hotel (longer than I had anticipated).

We were greeted at our resort with a fruity little drink!

We headed to our room to check out the view. We were very disappointed...

Please Note: this picture is from the next day when it was sunny and had already slept in the bed.

We went downstairs and told them that we wanted to upgrade, there weren't any upgrades available so they told us to come back the next day. More on that here.

We headed to the buffet to eat dinner. We also walked around and checked out the beach and all the resort had to offer.

Then we turned in for the night, it was a long day of traveling.

Spider Bite Turned Staph Infection

**Due to the graphic nature of some of the photo, I am going to put all of the photos at the end of this post.**

Timeline:

Sunday- Bite happens. We didn't see it happen so we don't know for sure what kind it was. Our guess is a wolf spider (typically not poisonous.)

Monday- Hand itches... ALOT

Tuesday- Small zit looking bump appears

Wednesday- Zit is getting bigger hand starts swelling

Thursday AM- Hand very swollen, redness spreading. I call the doctor and get an appointment

Thursday PM- Drive Joel to doctor because hand is too swollen. The doctor numbed and drained Joel's hand. She also gave us some antibiotics to take.

Friday- No improvement

Saturday AM- Getting worse, so we go back into the doctor. She attempts to drain the hand again, gives him a shot of antibiotics and some additional antibiotics to take.

Saturday PM- Hand only getting worse. Call doctor she tells us to go straight to the ER. We go to dinner, then head to ER. Once we get there we were immediately taken back. ER doctor took one look and said protocol is that we have to take an x-ray and blood, but we're admitting you and start IV antibiotics.

Saturday PM/Sunday early AM- X-ray inclusive. Because the swelling was so bad they ordered an MRI to make sure the infection isn't in the bone. IV being changed every 1 to 2 hours.

Sunday AM- Doctor tells Joel he's going to be there until the swelling goes down, so call work and let them know he won't be in. Infection not in the bone! Praise God! (Also, Mother's Day)

Sunday PM to Monday PM- Round the clock IV and pain meds. Still swollen the doctor ask a surgeon to come in to talk about draining the hand.

Tuesday AM- Surgery to drain hand

Tuesday PM- Lots of pain! Still on IV antibiotics

Wednesday AM- Finally seeing a noticeable improvement

Wednesday PM- Home from the hospital

Overall, this was quite the experience and very scary. It was determined that he had a staff infection, the bite was just what opened the skinned to let the staff infection in. We are so blessed to have great insurance and great doctors and nurses who took good care of Joel. God was there watching over everything, and we could feel the prayers being sent on our behalf. Thank you to EVERYONE who called, texted, Facebook, etc checking on Joel and I. And a special thanks to my family who stepped up and took care of Landry.

I believe this was Thursday, doesn't look that bad...

Saturday, the rest are while he's in the hospital (I don't remember the order)
