Weekend Update

We had a long weekend! It started on Friday when Joel's family flew into town. We had lunch at Red Robin.

Then we headed up to the church to set up for the memorial. We came back to our house afterwards to hanging out and let everyone relax before going out to dinner at Houlihans. Landry was up till 10pm! WAY past his bedtime especially since he didn't get his afternoon nap. But he did GREAT! Seriously, he was so happy the whole time. We are so blessed to have such a happy go lucky baby.

Saturday, we slept in (Landry slept till 9)! Then Benjamin and I made a big breakfast for everyone. We knew we would be eating again until 5:30 or 6. And boy were we right.

The Memorial was great. It was a fabulous tribute to Dr. Howard, and I learned so much about Joel's grandpa. Landry was like a celebrity. Everyone recognized him from his pictures on Facebook, and they all thought he was so cute. (I agree :))

Sunday we went to the church Joel grew up in. We've been a couple of times together, but it was nice to for the whole family there together. Landry got to see Shiloh again. Apparently, every time she sees his picture she just stares and stares. She was so cute see it in person.

The church is very small, and they don't have a nursery for little ones Landry's age. SO he went to church with us. He did good, but it made me so so so so thankful for our church and all the ladies that volunteer every Sunday to watch our sweet boy!!!

After church we ate lunch and then came home. It was a beautiful day so Benjamin got out his guitar and he and Breanne had a jam session.

Later that afternoon we did a Howard family photo shoot. More on that later. Then we had all of the extend family over for pizza and fellowship.

Landry and Leo both got lots of attention. And they loved it. That just about sums up our busy weekend, how was yours?

Let the MADNESS Begin

For the first time ever, I filled out a March Madness bracket! I am not a huge fan of basketball, but this year I thought why not. So Joel and I have a friendly wager going at home, I entered my office pool, and because I already had all of this on ESPN I am also doing a bracket with our ABF.

Go Kansas! Please don't let me down.

2 in one month

If you remember when we started this journey we had over $95K in debt to pay off. You can read about it here. Well, as of this week we are down to just over $23K!! Ya'll we have paid off more than $70,000 in debt!!!!!!!!

And today we paid off another student loan!! (Thanks to a tax refund and having a baby.)

Poison Control

Well, tonight we had our first call to poison control. I was painting a mirror that I bought at a garage sale. I turned a way for just a minute and before I knew it this is what happened.

I guess he just wanted to help because he was just as happy as could be!

He had it all over his hand, in his mouth, and on his clothes. Thankfully, when I called they said that his poop  will probably change colors, but that acrylic paint is not poisonous. And in case you ever need to call Poison Control in Texas the number is 1-800-222-1222.

Mom on the iPhone

I am sure you have all seen the "Dear Mom on the iPhone" letter that is floating around on facebook. If not you can click here and read it.

I read it and even shared it. I have since felt horribly guilty everytime I picked up my phone. I mean after all I want Landry to know that he is more important to me than my phone. I just couldn't shake the guilt...

Then today a blog I read posted this letter. If you've read the other letter, you have to read this one! Go read it, seriously.

I'm not going to lie, I cried. The first letter made me feel like I was a bad mom, like they were scolding me. The second letter lifted the guilt I had been feeling. Yes, I am on my phone alot, but I am a working mom and if being on my phone helps at least keep me home, I'm going to do it. Honestly, most of the time I am on my phone I am taking pictures and videos and sending them to grandparent, aunt, and uncles.

Being a mom is a hard job! We should encourage one another, not guilt trip each other.

iPhone Rewind {February}

I missed January because of all the craziness going on and last minute traveling, but I am back at it this month. If you want to see more pictures you can follow me on instagram @carissahoward07.

Landry had his first hotel stay. His face is blurry because he NEVER stops moving!

Playing with Daddy on one of our 4 super long car rides!

Lovin' on mommy!

A visit from cousins

Scrunchy nose

My new Nike Fuel Band

We had to go to the doctor at 7 months old instead of waiting all the way till 9 months. Landry had fallen off his growth curve and they wanted to make sure he was gaining weight like he should. Thankfully, he is back on track for his height (50%) and now at a lower track for his weight (10%). He finally crossed the 16lb mark!! On a different note, he figured out that he could pull on the roll of paper and get more. Can you tell he LOVED it?

Just hanging out at the Super Bowl Party.

Well used Bible

Joel's grandpa's Bible. Every page was marked up, underlined, highlighted, analyzed, etc. This is what a Bible should look like. At one point it was so used it had to be rebound!
