Landry 6 Months

Landry learns something new every single day!! Seriously, this age is SO much fun!! I love seeing the world through his eyes. Here are some of the things he has done lately! (as in yesterday and today)

He said "dadda" for the first time! You should have seen the GIANT smile on Joel's face. So sweet!

And then today when changing him he was laughing up a storm. He smiles all the time, but he doesn't laugh as often (at least not until now). I just can't get enough of it.

I just love this little boy more than words!

Weekend Update

Friday night we went out to Red Lobster so Joel could enjoy the 45 shrimp for $11.99. We let Landry sit in a high chair for the first time. He loved it.

It was the first time that we had been out to a sit down restaurant just the 3 of us. He was so interested in the menus, our classes, the bread, basically anything we set on the table.

We went home and put little man to bed and watched TV.

On Saturday, we got up early (no sleeping in with a baby) and cleaned up before we had friends over to see Landry. This is me in my new top! Pinterest has inspired me to try new outfits.

That night we had my parents, sister and her friend over to play games.

Sunday morning we went to church and then ran some errands. It was Landry's first time in his big boy carseat.

We went to lunch at Cane's while we were out and Landry couldn't stop starring at the disco ball.

We headed home to nap and then went to a get together with our small group from ABF. It was a great weekend!

Weigh In Wednesday

Well, this week I am down .4lbs. Not bad, in fact its better than I excepted considering the way I have been eating. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought that bag of M&Ms. Clearly, I don't need to keep those things in the house because (right now anyway) I can't control myself.

My problem is not my meals, generally we eat balanced meals. A protein, a starch and a veggie. Sometimes those proteins maybe fried, but my problem is more snack time. I get home from work around 3:30 and I snack until dinner time. And it's never on things that are good for me, hence the bag of M&Ms. So if you have suggestions on healthier snacks, I would love to hear them!

Content

Someone said to me the other day "You have the perfect little life, the perfect little boy, the perfect little house, the perfect little family, the perfect little job."

Sadly, I don't ever think that about myself. I have this tendency to compare myself to others. And its always to people that have things that I want. But when someone called my life perfect it hit me square between the eyes, other people are comparing themselves to me. I hadn't ever thought of that before.

My life is in no way perfect, we have good days and bad days. BUT I am BLESSED beyond measure for what I do have! A husband who loves me through all my craziness. A little boy who is the light of my life. A beautiful home that I get to share with my favorite boys. God is good.

We have been through lots, but looking back those things have taught me to be thankful. However, this is something I still struggle with daily. God is still working on me. So my word for 2013 is CONTENT.

10 on 10

* Don't for get to check out my giveaway here*

In an attempt to document our everyday life, I have decided to participate in doing 10 on 10. So on the 10th of every month I will try to take 10 pictures that represent a typical day for us. In a few years I am sure I will want to look back and see what life used to be like, so here it goes.

Woke up early (this was after snoozing it 3 times)

I got ready and headed into work.

Not much going on at work... so it was off to pick baby boy up from MDO

I don't know why this picture won't rotate. Please know that dad dressed him today! Green and black onesie, green and navy pants, and green and white socks. That's 3 different shades of green! I laughed when I saw him. Landry's teacher said "we could tell daddy dressed him". From now on I will be laying clothes out the night before.

Landry went straight to sleep, so I did a little straightening and cleaning.

Then I checked the mail! I got the photobook I ordered of all our Christmas photos today. I love getting packages in the mail!

When Landry woke up I fed him (really fed himself) and then we played, played, played

When Daddy got home they played while I finished getting dinner ready.

We had homemade pizza!

We got Landry ready for his bath and he threw up on me... The life of a mom!

I changed shirts and headed to the gym. Not going to lie part of the reason I went to the gym was so that I could include it on here. ha! Whatever works!

And now I am at home with Joel chilling on the couch watching the new episode of Big Bang Theory.

Weigh in Wednesday

*Don't forget to check out my very first giveaway! (Hopefully, all the issues are fixed now, thank you for being patient)*

This was not one of my New Years goals, but it's never a bad time to get healthy. I feel like each year I say I am going to get healthy and exercise and blah blah blah. The truth is this year I decided to give myself a break. If I do it great, if not that's ok too. I am learning to be ok with who I am and where I am now.

That being said when I stepped on the scale after the Holidays, I had gained 10lbs!!! 10!!! I couldn't believe it. So I got back into the gym with a little insistence from my sister. And you know what I lost 4.6lbs of that 10. I will be doing my measurements sometime this week so I can start keeping track of that too. I have to keep up with Allie! You go girl!

First day of 'school' and 6 months

*Don't forget to check out my giveaway here*

Today was Landry's first day of Mother's Day Out. He did great! Mom on the other hand had a hard time. I don't know why it was hard for me today. I have been back at work since Landry was 7 weeks old, but somehow leaving him at school was different.

We checked him in

Then dropped him off

With his 3 lovely teachers. He wasn't upset at all.

And this picture was taken tonight at my parents house. (one of my favorites!)

Happy 6 Months sweet boy! We love you more and more everyday!

Giveaway!

I don't know about you, but I love when my whole house smells good! I am a huge fan of candles, but now that we have a little one they are kind of out of the question! So when my friend Krysten introduced me to Scentsy I fell in LOVE.

I love the warmers they have created. They are great for any room in the house. I have tried the off brands before, and they didn't work for me. My house is very open so I want something that I can plug in in the kitchen or living room and it will scent the entire house. Well, Scentsy do that perfectly!

They have all different sizes and styles to choose from, so your bound to find something that will work for your house.

One of my favorites is the new silhouette collection. I just think they look so beautiful all lit up.

And if you need something for a smaller room like a bathroom, bedroom or office, the plug in warmers are perfect.

Each month they feature a warmer and a fragrance. This sweater inspired warmer is so cozy.

So I am going to giveaway one $20 wall plug in of your choice! Here's how you enter to win (each of the following is a separate entry):

1. Become an official Google follower of my blog and leave me a comment telling me you do. If you are new, please tell me how you found me.

2. Check out my online Scentsy basket party going on here. And tell me which wall plug in you would choose.

3. Share a link to my giveaway on Facebook or your blog and tell me you have done so.

Feel free to shop around, I know you won't be disappointed, and if you buy anything make sure you do it under the link "Carissa's Basket Party". I will choose a winner on Sunday, so you have till Saturday, January 12 at midnight to enter.

Excited about Mondays

I don't know about you, but my guilty pleasure is watching the Bachelor.

Something about romance of meeting on TV just gets me. I have tried to stop watching, but every year they suck me back in. However, this season I am really excited because the new bachelor Sean seems like a genuiely sweet guy. I am also excited because I follow his sister, Shay's, blog. She will be giving behind the season details throughout the season as the episode's air. Shay (look at me talking about her like we're friends... she doesn't even know my blog exist) has said that he represented the family well.

Not to mention Sean is from Dallas, so I just want to see the hometown guy win!

So you know where I will be each Monday night at 7.

PS- Check back later tonight for my first ever giveaway! I will probably write the post as I watch :)

2013 Goals

Happy 2013!! I am so excited to start the another year in this wonderful life God has blessed me to be able to live!

1. Finish reading through the Bible this year.

2. Do a giveaway on my blog.

3. Continue to decorate our house. Specially finish the guest room and living room (maybe the guest bath and playroom).

4. Meal plan! I did really good at this for awhile and I need to get back to it! It helps us save money and eat healthier.

5. With the above, I also want to start eating at the table! Landry will be eating dinner with us this year and I want it to be a family affair. Sadly, we eat most of our meals in front of the TV.

6. Learn how to use my Silhouette machine that I got for Christmas

7. Pay off all student loans! We will still have my car payment, but it won't be far behind.

8. Have people over at our house more often. Maybe throw a dinner party or something.

9. Write hand written notes. Not birthday cards, I mean thinking about you notes

10. Get pictures off my computer and into our house.
