30 weeks

how far along?  30 weeks
how are you measuring?  30 weeks
size of baby? According to the Baby Bump app on my phone our baby is about the size of a cabbage 15.7 inches and the weighs about 2.75lbs. (Dr. said he is 3.7lbs and in the 55 percentile)
heartbeat?  141 bpm
total weight gain/loss? 15lb
maternity clothes? Yes
sleep? No complaints. Getting up once a night to use the bathroom and I wake myself up anytime I need to change positions. But honestly I can't complain.
best moment this week?  Seeing my sisters. They are so excited to be aunts.
movement? Lots of it! This week there were two different occasions that the kicks actually hurt. Not bad, but it made me stop what I was doing.
food cravings/aversions? Shaved ice!!
gender predictions? It's a boy, Landry James Howard
what i miss: Not much this week
what i'm looking forward to: Co-hosting a baby shower for my sweet friend Anna this weekend. She is due July 4th, 5 days before I am. It's fun to be going through things literally at the same time. We are also doing our engage service project this Sunday. That is always a fun time of serving.
how are you feeling? A little overwhelmed at times. I feel like there is so much to do before Landry gets here, but I just don't have anytime.
pregnancy moments: I have been WAY more emotional this week. Before I was pregnant I cried at every little thing, but since I have been pregnant I haven't been. Well I think this week that all changed. There were several times this week I cried for no reason. Well, not no reason, but for silly reasons. Example: In big church on Sunday they announced all the seniors who were graduating. I did fine until they ask everyone to stand up and pray over them. I started bawling... then laughing because I felt stupid. Joel leaned over and told me it would be 18 years before Landry was up there,, but honestly that's not the reason I was crying. I couldn't tell you why.

Meltdown

For anyone who didn't know me growing up, my dream was always to become an astronaut. I was going to go to the Air Force Academy and become a pilot and then move on to NASA. As you can tell I did not do those things. Well this week while I was listening to the radio they were doing a news report and one of the stories was about the retirement of the Discovery Space Shuttle. The shuttle flew on the back of a 747 around Washington DC before coming to its final resting place at the Air and Space Museum.

Well, they interviewed a little kid (he sounded about 7 years old) and he was there watching it with his Grandpa. You could hear the excitement in his voice. Then they ask the Grandpa a few questions. Well... I lost it. Completely! I was crying so hard I could barely see the road. I didn't even really hear the end of the story because I was crying so hard. Then I thought about why I was crying, and I couldn't figure it out... So I proceed to bust up laughing at myself. So I called my mom and she calmed me down and I made it home safely.

I am so blessed to have been raised in a home where my parents encouraged me that I could be anything I wanted to be. And while I may not be an astronaut today, I am ok with that.

how are you measuring?  29 weeks (I moved my post to Tuesday's because my appointments are on Monday's and I am able to get everything updated.)
size of baby? According to the Baby Bump app on my phone our baby is about the size of a butternut squash 15.25 inches and the weighs about 2.5lbs.
heartbeat?  140 bpm (at my appointment last week)
total weight gain/loss? 12lbs (I was down a pound last week but I thought it was a fluke, but I was still down this week so I am counting it!)
maternity clothes? Yes
sleep? Anytime I need to change positions I have to wake up to do it. Sometime I wake up with my hand or shoulder numb because I haven't moved. I am also using the bathroom at least once a night.
best moment this week?  Getting some of Joel's baby clothes. His dad brought them with him this past weekend. Looking at how tiny they were and then seeing pictures of Joel in those same outfits... so surreal. Especially Joel's new born picture and outfit. I think Landry is going to look a lot like his daddy, but we have to wait 2 more months to find out.
movement? Lots of it!
food cravings/aversions? Still loving water, but no cravings.
gender predictions? It's a boy, Landry James Howard

how are you feeling? Tired most days...
pregnancy moments: I had a total breakdown in the car on my way home from work the other day. You can read about it here.

how are you feeling? I feel pretty good most days. It's getting harder to be comfortable, and I am hot ALL the time.
pregnancy moments: On Saturday we had a garage sale and when it was over we came home to watch the Rangers play. I spent two and half hours shifting around on the couch, moving to the other couch, feet up, feet down, you get the point. I could not get comfortable... I have a feeling there is more of that too come.

Lasagna Bites

The first (or second) Monday of every month my mom and I get together with a group of women and play Bunko! It is such a fun time of fellowship. So last night I made Cookie Dough Dip, you can get the recipe here. BUT I also made Lasagna Bites!

I found a recipe on Pinterest, but I modified it so I thought I would share my modified version here!

Ingredients:

1lb of ground beef
1 can of your favorite sauce
Mozzarella Cheese
Cheddar Cheese
2 or 3 cans of biscuits

1. Fry up the meat.

hamburger meat

2. While the meat is frying spread out the biscuits and press them against the sides of a muffin tin. (The recipe I found on Pinterest used lasagna noodles, but I found that they were too hard once you baked them.)

mini lasagna bites

3. Once the meat is cooked fully, drain it. Then add the sauce to the meat and mix. I also add some cheese so it can melt in.

frying pan

4. Add a spoon full of the mixture to each biscuit. And top with cheese.

lasagna in a muffin tin

5. Bake in the oven according the directions on the biscuits.

freeze and reheat

Everyone at the party loved them, and I did too. I will definitely be making them for Joel and I for dinner. Served with a salad they would be great for a meal!

*Update 10/2013 - We froze them and reheated them for dinner a week later and they were delicious! Just the same as having them freshly made. I have also made them and taken them for lunch the next day.

27 weeks

how far along?  27 weeks
how are you measuring?  27 weeks (Dr. said today that I am right on track)

total weight gain/loss? 13lbs (not wanting to gain more, but I will do whatever is best for Landry)
maternity clothes? Yes

best moment this week?  Easter, I love celebrating the wonder of our God.
movement? Lots of it!
food cravings/aversions? Ice cold water!! So good.
gender predictions? It's a boy, Landry James Howard
what i miss: Some of my old clothes. I am kind of tired of wearing the same thing over and over. But my mom bought me a new Easter dress (pictured above).
what i'm looking forward to: We have our first of 3 child birth classes this week!
how are you feeling? I have been feeling pretty good this week, Friday I had a TON of swelling which was a little worrisome, but it's all better now. I was just thinking the other day "I don't know how my stomach can get any bigger". I know we still have 13 weeks to go, so it's going to happen, but its hard to believe.
pregnancy moments: I can't believe we are less then 100 days away from meeting our sweet boy. This week (today especially) I have been worried. I have been worried about everything under the sun, important things and minor things. But today Joel reminded me of all the blessings we have and how God has always been faithful to provide. It's exactly what I needed to hear.

*Other thoughts that I don't know where to put

Bathroom: I go to the bathroom at about 3 in the morning and then again when I get up, but everyday as soon as I get to work that is my first stop. And at the end of the day if I don't go right before I leave I can't make it home. I forgot once and I called Joel and told him I was coming in to meet him because I wasn't going to make it home.
