Prayer Request

I told our ABF on Sunday, but I thought I would let everyone here in the blog world no so that you can be praying as well.

Joel's Mimi found out last week that she has Merkel Cell Carcinoma. It is a rare form of skin cancer. She has started a blog to share with all of her friends and family her progress. I thought I would share it here.

Please remember the whole family in your prayers! THANKS!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today was my birthday and everyone made it very special. I love getting all of the comments on facebook, it's nice to know people are thinking about you.

Everyone at work wished me a happy birthday too, my cube was kinda hard to miss.

Tonight I celebrated by going over to my parents house for dinner. It was delicious.

The only present I ask for was a strap for my camera and I got it! Isn't it super cute!

Thanks to everyone who made my day so special!

Birthday Weekend

This weekend started on Friday when we went out to dinner at Grimaldi's for a free birthday pizza with the Murreys.

On Saturday we woke up and watched College Game Day and did a little cleaning. And we (by we I mean Joel) hung the first thing on our wall!

Then it was off to play with the kids at Shiloh Village, came home and cleaned a little more while watching football and then baseball. (GO RANGERS!!)

We had our first non family dinner party (if you can call it that). We had our dating group the Janes, Zoutendams and Hutchisons over for dinner. We had so much fun playing games and eating pizza. So glad we were able to have everyone over.

Sunday we went to church and then I went to Amy's baby shower. Can't wait to meet baby Brody.

Then came home and watched a Dallas Cowboy WIN!

I'd say it was a pretty good weekend!

Loving our Neighborhood!

Today I came home and checked the mail, and we had a little surprise.

This is from our 7 year old neighbor Kaylee. On the inside it say "Wolcome to [our street name]". Oh the little things in life!

Ranger Game

Joel and I had the opportunity to go to the Ranger game tonight! My (great) Aunt Mary had 4 tickets so she took the two of us and my grandma with her to the game! With it being only weeks away from the playoffs, of course, I was excited. I would have been excited either way, but this was lots of fun. Thankfully the Rangers destroyed the Indians and are one step closer to the playoffs!

We were on the 3rd base line about 25 rows back! Great seats!

Thanks Aunt Mary for taking us with you, we had a great time!

Meet Tyson

Meet Tyson the Dyson our new vacuum cleaner!

When we lived in our apartment the only carpet we had was in our bedroom, so we just used our cheap vacuum from our college dorm. You know the kind that barely picks anything up and you have to go over it 20X.

So we decided that we had a new house with new carpet (and alot more of it at that), so as a house warming gift to ourselves we bought a Dyson DC25 Animal Ball-Technology Upright Vacuum Cleaner. We shopped around and actually got a really good deal on it!

And the BEST part about the vacuum... I haven't used it yet! ha! Joel loves it so much I haven't had a chance to. We probably have the most vacuumed floors in America! (I'm sure this will all change soon, but I am loving it so far!)

Strawn Family Photoshoot 2011

For Mother's Day we got together and bought my mom a package to have our family photos taken, well we just got around to taking them. Oh well... that's how these things go sometimes.

Our photographer's website is here, and all photo credits go to her. Please check out her website and if you decide to book tell her we sent you!

We will never forget.

Thank you to all the men and women who serve everyday to protect us from another attack. I know they haven't forgotten.

The Newlywed Game

Anytime we get together with our ABF it's always fun! Today was no different. We are so blessed to have a church with so many great people! We truly love this group of friends and love getting to know them better.

Michel and Julie-We tied with them for second place, but we ended taking it with a tiebreaker question

Matt and Katy with David and Michelle - tied for 4th place

Colin and Amy

Ray and Alicia - the new champs!

The whole gang and the only picture I managed to get of Joel and I.

Tom and Cheryl - our fearless leaders

Jarrad and Sara with Jonathan and Tammy - they got to take home the rest of the wedding cake

It's so much fun getting to know each other and learning random things about your spouse too.

Just another day

Well, today was my first day to experience my new commute to work... honestly, it wasn't as bad as I started. Joel and I have decided to car pool so that was interesting. I am not used to have anyone in the car with me. However, I have to go much farther than Joel so I still got my alone time.

It started with us getting ready together. It's so nice to have our OWN sinks... for the first time in our marriage. Then we headed to

to pick up our FREE breakfast! I love Chick-fil-a!

Then I went to work, nothing special there. The day went by pretty quickly which was very nice.

I came home and our power was out, so we got on the phone with the electric company. We thought that maybe the electric never got turned on in our name and the builder had turned it off. As we are talking to them it came back on. It turns out the entire neighborhood lost power.

Then I went on a walk/run with my friend Michelle. We are doing the 'Couch to 5k' together. It's only day two, but so far we are doing good. My goal is too get up to 3 miles and then run that 3 times a week.

Then I made a dinner of Baked Ziti and green beans. Now we are watching TV and relaxing.

I would say it was a great day!

Our new home

This weekend as been full of adventure. We moved into our new house this weekend.

Before I show you our new place, let me show you our old place. Then you will truly understand how much God has blessed us. I would consider what we lived in to be the ghetto. I have been blessed my whole life to live in a nice neighborhood, in a beautiful house that my mom always had well decorated and furnished. I expected to have the same thing when I got married and graduated from college. BOY WAS I WRONG! I think God knew that I needed to be humbled. And looking back now I wouldn't have changed anything that we have been through, but when I was living here or with my parents or with my in laws I thought differently.

Here is our kitchen:

Dining Room

Living Room

Our bedroom, closet and bathroom

That's it... pretty small... correction, VERY small!!

Now what you've all been waiting for. Our new house!

The entry way

Living room

Master bath

Master bedroom

We are so thankful to finally be in a home of our own. Had we gotten this home when we first graduated we would not have been this grateful. It was worth the wait and we can't wait to make many memories here!

I will post lots more pictures as I get everything decorated, so stay tuned!
