Bowling

Better late than never...

Each month our ABF has a fun gathering so that we can all get to know each other better. This month we went to Splitsville. The girls went earlier this summer but this time we brought the boys.

It was so much fun just to hang out with everyone. And I was able to hold Pearson and get my 'baby fix'.


After bowling, we headed over to BJ's for dinner. I forget about how good it is, and I was able to get Berry Burst Cider! I love it!!

SUYL - Marriage Advice

Today on Kelly's Korner is Show Us Your Life and the topic is Marriage Advice. I thought I'd take a minute to share my best piece of advice. It is something Joel and I are working on currently.

My advice is to live DEBT FREE!! The number one reason for divorce is finances. It is hard for two people to agree on how to spend money especially when you have been raised two different ways.

  • Early on in your marriage decide on a budget and stick to it! 
  • Don't allow just one person to be in charge, you both need to add your input.
  • Don't hide purchases from each other
Keep each other accountable, but always be understanding and forgiving.

I highly recommend all engaged and newly couples to take Financial Peace University. It has helped us TONS, and I can't wait to be debt free! December 2015 (maybe even sooner)!! Good Luck, please let me know if you have any questions, I would be more than happy to answer them.

Game night

Last night we had Scrabble with Sam, otherwise known as game night! We didn't actually end up playing Scrabble, we played "The Game of Things" instead.

Getting used to things

It has been almost 3 months since Joel has had weekends off, and I am still not used to it. Every Monday when I drive to work I thank God for allowing me to spend time with my husband. I am so thankful that we get to see each other on a regular basis. We have gone from being roommates to being husband and wife again! I hope I never take these weekends together for granted!

So what have we been doing with these days that we didn't have before?

Well, this past Saturday after running around trying to get Joel's phone fixed we stopped by the Lamborghini dealership. If you know my husband at all you know he has a passion for cars. I just enjoyed watching his face light up as he got to sit in them (someone left them unlocked, so you're not supposed to be allowed to do this... we got VERY lucky)

I joke that when we win the lottery he can buy one, but we don't play the lotto so chances of that are 0! Maybe someday he will have one... either way its nice to dream!

Anyways, on a different note today was my one year anniversary at my job. I am so blessed to have a job I love and to work with great people for a great company! They gave me this pin to congratulate me.

New Camera

I have been wanting a DSLR camera since my mom got hers 3 or 4 years ago. Well, today I finally got one! I am so excited!!! I am still experimenting and learning about it, but here are some of my images so far. Don't worry, I'm not planning on going into photography. However, I do want to be able to take good pictures of my family and someday my kids. But for now, Leo makes a great subject!







And this is him saying ENOUGH... but didn't he do good to sit still that long. We have trained him well. Poor dog, I'm probably going to torture him over the next few weeks. ha!

Friday Night Fun

So for a few weeks now we have been planning a date night with our friends the Zellners. We finally got to go out with them on Friday! they introduced us to Buca di Beppo! It was such a fun atmosphere!


After dinner we headed over to Prestonwood for the playoffs of our softball season. I had originally signed up to be an alternate if we needed one, and we did... almost every week! But it was so much fun!



I even made a great play this week and surprised everyone. I guess Joel practicing with me really paid off.

After the game we headed over to Sonic to celebrate a great season. It was also a great way to spend my Friday night!

John 13

Today on my way home from work I got to talk with my brother-in-law, David. It was a nice treat since we don't get to talk very often. However, after hearing some of the things that are going on in their life, I became jealous. Don't get me wrong I am so proud of him and his wife Hannah. They are doing great and I am SOOO very happy for them. But for some reason today, I had a hint of jealousy.

When I got home, I was browsing through facebook, like I do everyday (and yes I mean everyday). And it happened to be my cousin Ashley's birthday. I was being a stalker and reading what people had wrote on her wall, mainly what her mom, my aunt, had written. The  verse John 13:7 was posted there. It reads Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”

This struck a cord with me for some reason. So I went to bible gateway and read the whole chapter. Chapter 13 talks about Jesus washing the disciples feet. And after reading that verse by itself out of context, it was like I was reading the whole story in a new light. 

These last few months maybe even years, have not been easy for Joel and I. I am sure many of you have read all about it, and there are times when I wanted to give up. However, looking back now I know God was there with us and still is. I still do not understand why we have gone through everything that we have been through, and I may not understand until I get to heaven. What I do know is that God is going to use our experiences to strengthen us and grow us closer to Him and each other (like He already has).


It's amazing how reading God's word can change my jealousy into thanksgiving. I encourage each of you to do the same.

Craft Night

As you all know by now my ABF girls and I get together on Wednesday nights and do a fun activity. This week we went over to Tammy's house and made super cute necklaces.

So Sunday afternoon Joel and I were at home when we got a phone from some friends. They were bored... they wanted to know if we wanted to do something. So they came over and we decided on Nickelrama. I haven't been since elementary school, but it was lots of fun. Please enjoy some pictures from our fun day.

Holiday Weekend

It started off on Friday night when I went with a group of girls to Kaufman, TX to a women's shelter to volunteer. Honestly, it was the easiest volunteering I have ever done. We took a meal out to the women and then we played Bunco with them. It was so fun and natural and so rewarding. I am not allowed to post any pictures of the women, but here are all the girls that went to volunteer.



Then Saturday morning I went over to a friend's house for a Savvy Boheme party. You should check out her website, her stuff is all natural and organic and it's really good. I had lots of fun just being girly.




While I was being girly Joel went with a friend and his dad to the shooting range. It was his first time shooting his 9mm, so I made him take a picture.

My mom came and picked me up from the party and I got to hang out with my mom and both of my sisters. It is so nice getting together with my family. That night I went to Frisco and watched fireworks!

Sunday we went to church only to remember that we weren't having ABF. So we turned around and went back home and watched our old church online. That afternoon we went over to my parents house and had July 4th festivities. We did not have a traditional cookout like you would think, instead we had my mom's home lasagna. So very very good!! And then we had homemade ice cream!! YUMMY! Sorry I didn't get a picture of the ice cream, but here are some of the ingredients.


That night we enjoyed another fireworks show in Rowlett.

On the 4th we went over to the Murrey's house for lunch. Lots of times eating and playing games with friends.



Jeff even read Patrick Henry speech. It was such a good reminder of the values this country was founded on and how lucky we are to live here!



Later that night we went over to the Kennedy's house with some other couples from our ABF. We enjoyed a wonderful fireworks show put on by Richardson. It was great holiday spent with great friends!

Gettin' Creative

So today I decide to bring out my creative side. A friend of mine made one of these and posted it on their fridge. I loved it so much I made one for us! I can't wait to fill it all in!
