Date Nights, Weddings, and babies!

What a fun weekend! The weekend started on Friday night. We met with our dating group from ABF at

Apparently we all agree that it is the best fast food restaurant. The we headed to the Hooper's for game time. We played the game of 'Things' where the object of the game is to laugh. Boy, did we laugh.

Meet the couples:

Matt and Katy who told us they were having a boy! (Congrats guys!)

Jonathon and Tammy, thanks for having us over!

Joel and I

Ben and Sarah. Sarah made Double Doosies, they were so good.

The girls!

It was a great way to start the weekend!

Joel and I woke up and cleaned the apartment, then we got all dressed up and headed to see Daniel and Jana get married! We found out that they live in the same apartment complex as us, so we will probably being seeing alot more of them.

Bride and Groom

We tried to take this picture 5 or 6 times and this is the best one. Joel's eyes are huge!

Joel grew up with Daniel. They used to go to church together and play paintball together. They both have a love for fancy cars, so they always have fun together. Daniel was in our wedding so it was great to meet his bride and be a part of their very special day.

The decorations were so cute and colorful. They had a bag of popcorn at each spot when you came into the reception.

And who would have guessed that a Saturday in January would be so B-E-A-utiful! So when we got home there was still a little day light left, so we took Leo for a nice long walk. Then we enjoyed a movie and watch some X-games!

It started off with a wonderful ABF class and learning about serving in big church. Then I came home and wrapped a present and started writing this blog before heading out to a baby shower.

Loree and Lloyd... Future Mom and Dad

The cake, isn't it sooooo cute!!

Then I headed to back up to church to help plan some activities for our ABF! I am so excited about some of the things we have coming up!

What a fun filled weekend! How was your weekend?

Joel and I are going on a cruise with this family in March. In order to go, I have to have a passport. I have one, but I haven't changed my name on my passport yet. So as many of you know from my facebook post, I tried to get my passport on Monday. Needless to say I was unable to get it.

I ashamed to admit that after the way they treated me I was not very Christianly in the parking lot. When I got home I was still very upset, but after a short walk I calmed now a little. I was really disappointed, embarrassed, and ashamed of the way I acted. I don't know why something like that upset me so much, but it did. Today in ABF we were talking about acting like Christ in all situations. So after church today I felt even more ashamed of myself. I know God has forgiven me for the way I acted, and I am sure that all the people who saw it didn't even think twice about it. However, this was a huge learning experience for me.

I think I might add this to my list of new years goals. I want to be the kind of person that shows God to the world with every action I do. I want others to know him by the things I do. The people in the parking lot of the post office never would have thought that I was a Christian and I don't want that to ever happen again!

I did finally get everything in order for my passport, and it should come in the mail in 4 - 6 weeks. Thank goodness I won't have to get another one for 10 years because I hated standing in line for an hour and half on my second visit.

First Snow of 2011

When I walked out of church and saw snow on the ground, I was like a kid in a candy store. I love the snow!! We didn't get as much at our apartment as there was at the church, so it wasn't enough to play. But it is still beautiful to look at. It is so white a pure. Each time I see it I am reminded that God has washed me white as snow.

Leo takes after his mommy, he loves snow too!

Happy New Year!

My 2011 goals

1. Grow closer to God and continue to seek him more

2. Read one book per month

3. Watch less TV

4. Exercise more (20 minutes 3 times a week)

5. Finish a couple of scrapbooks that I have started

6. Blog more often (and write in my personal journal more)

7. Pay off debt (I won't say how much and we won't be able to pay it all off this year, but that is a five year goal to be debt free)

8. Volunteer more

9. Eat out less, meal plan more

10. Date night with Joel at least once a month. (This has to be a goal because his schedule is so crazy it won't happen otherwise)

What are your goals for the New Year?

4 Generations

I can't help but think that if I had a baby it would be 5 generations. How cool is that?!?! Maybe sometime in the near future it will be true. My Great-Grandmother aka Granny. Is 93 years young?!?!

Christmas 2010

Joel and I woke up Christmas morning and opened gifts just the two of us. (We have been married for 3 1/2 years, and this was the first time... so it was special for me)

In addition to the pearl necklace Joel also got me a pair of earrings, a bracelet, and a food processor.

I got Joel two pairs of jeans, two seasons of 'Big Bang Theory' and a commemorative Texas Rangers World Series baseball.

Joel also got all of this in his stocking

After opening gifts just the two of us we headed over to my parents house to open gifts.

After opening gifts the boys played video games while the girls watched 'Home Alone'. Then at 4 my Uncles and cousins came over and we had brisket. It was so good, we had been smelling it in the house all day so I was happy to finally get to eat it. Then we all watched the Cowboy game together. After the game we opened gifts from my Grandma.

It was such a great Christmas! We are so truly blessed! I know I say that a lot, but I mean it every time! I have so much to be thankful for!

Christmas Eve 2010

It twas the night before Christmas...

Christmas was great this year!! In the past Joel and I have always been traveling at Christmas. We were living in Abilene so we either came to Dallas to be with my family or we went to Orlando to be with his family. But this year I felt like we were actually able to start our own family traditions.

At midnight Christmas Eve (meaning between the 23rd and 24th) Joel just had to give me one of my gifts. I am one of those people who likes to wait till Christmas morning to open everything, but I think it is okay to open 1 gift on Christmas Eve. So the second Joel could give it to me he did. It was a pearl bracelet to match my pearl necklace. I love it!! He wanted me to be able to wear it and show it off for our big Christmas Eve party.

I woke up went and worked out, then went to help my cousin Monica set up for the party at her house. Then I came home and we had Christmas with Joel's family via Skype. This year his parents are taking the whole family on a cruise in March! I am super excited about it! We had mailed their presents weeks ago, so we were very excited for them to open them, especially since I bought them way before Christmas. Since his family lives in Florida they don't have access to gear for Dallas sports teams as easily as we do. So we usually get them Dallas Cowboys stuff for Christmas. This year, however, we went the Texas Ranger gear! It was so good to 'see' them, and we can't wait to really SEE them in March, for the wedding and the cruise!

After that we got ready and headed over to my cousins' house for the big party.

On Christmas Eve my moms side of the family gets together and has a big dinner. When I say my mom's side of the family, I mean the whole family. First cousins, second cousins, aunts, uncles, everybody. This year was no different. Everyone in my family always makes their specialty. For my mom it's mashed potatoes, for my Aunt Mary its dressing, for Granny its banana pudding, for Aunt Debbie its taco salad, and the list goes on... This year I felt like a grown up because I brought my dish. In years past my mom has always brought something and that counted for me, but not this year.

It is always a fun time catching up with everyone in the family. It is amazing that all 50 to 60 of us can still get together one night a year have fun. I am so blessed to such a great family. (I will attached photos as soon as I get them)
